About us and our chickens

     Here at our little farm, we have several breeds of chickens available.  All our birds are happy, healthy and are allowed to roam free when we are here to keep an eye on them.  We use no routine antibiotics, drugs, hormones, etc.  We are located about an hour south of Pittsburgh in the foothills of southwestern PA.  We ship hatching eggs March thru October (weather permitting) and also chicks (with a minimum order to states that allow shipping of live birds).  Prices for eggs are listed under hatching eggs, please email me for prices and more information for ordering chicks.  We also sell fresh eggs for eating to our local customers.  Thanks for checking out our website and please feel free to email us with any questions or comments!  Happy Hatching!

AMERACAUNAS:

This is a standard sized chicken that lays beautiful green/blue eggs.  The breed originated in South America and are often referred to as "Easter Egg Chickens".   These are a real novelty breed and people love the colored eggs!  Price is 30.00 /dz (including shipping).

BLACK TAILED WHITE JAPANESE:

Japanese bantams are known for their very short legs (should be less than one inch in length) and their gorgeous tails.  This is Buddy and a friend, posing for the camera.  This breed goes broody readily, lays small cream-colored eggs and make wonderful mothers.  Price is 25.00/dz (including shipping).

SILKIES:

This is a resident white non-bearded silkie hen with a White Polish friend (left) and a turkey.  Second photo is a black hen. This breed is known for its odd feathers that resemble hair.  They also have black/blue skin, five toes and feathered legs.  They go broody readily, make excellent mothers and lay small cream colored eggs.  Many people use this breed to hatch out other types of chickens or even guineas, peafowl, ducks, etc.  They will sit on anything!  Price is 25.00/ dz (including shipping)

MILLE FLEUR D'UCCLE:

Here is a photo of one of our Mille hens.  These are bantam chickens with beards and feathered legs (also known as booted).  They lay small cream colored eggs.  This is one of the favorite breeds for showing, especially for beginners.  They are generally calm and their gorgeous feathering attracts a lot of attention.  Price is 30.00/dz (including shipping)

COCHIN FRIZZLES (bantam):

Cochin bantams are one of the most sought after breeds of chicken.  The look like little balls of fluff running around.  These guys come in both smooth and frizzle variety.  The frizzles look like they have long curly feathers that curl toward their face.  They are one of my favorites.  In each hatch, we will get approximately 50% frizzle and 50% smooth (which would carry the frizzle gene).  They lay small cream colored eggs.  They are very calm and sociable.  Price is 30.00/dz (includes shipping).
